Wrestling Sending 11 To State Tournament
Jackson County High School will be sending 11 wrestlers to the GHSA State Wrestling Finals, eight from the boys and three from the girls.
For the girls, who competed in the sectionals on Friday, senior Anna Skoda qualified for state by placing third in her weight class, along with first-year wrestler Abby Andersen. Alina Jurovschi placed sixth in her weight class to qualify for the state tournament.
For the boys, Donovan Spry (106 pounds) won his weight class at the sectional tournament and qualified for the state tournament. Xavier Cepican (165 pounds) also claimed first place in the sectional tournament to advance to state. Malachi Kahele Carranco (113 pounds, finished in second place, while Toby Jurovschi (132 pounds) finished in fourth place, Zack Scott (175 pounds) finished in fifth place and Mickey Castro (120 pounds), Dylan Jurovschi (126 pounds) and Josue Mendoza (190 pounds) finished sixth to advance to state.
