Wolfe Named Player of the Year, Sandy Coach of the Year

Wolfe Named Player of the Year, Sandy Coach of the Year

Jackson County High School's Lydia Wolfe was named the Region 8-AAAAA girls basketball Player of the Year on Saturday, while first-year head coach Mackenzie Sandy was named the Coach of the Year. 

The honors were part of the All-Region teams being announced following the region tournament. In total, Madelyn Drucker and Maddie Harkins were named First-Team, along with RJ Knapp on the boys side. Lillie Vick and Ka'Mya Washington were named Honorable Mentions on the girls side and Landon Jones and Jacob Lee on the boys side. 

Both JCHS basketball teams qualified for the Class AAAAA state playoffs, which begin this week. 

The Lady Panthers won 19 games between the regular season and the Region 8 tournament, winning the regular season region championship. They will act as the No. 3 seed in the state playoffs. The Panthers upset Alcovy in the first-round of the region tournament, clinching a playoff spot. The Lady Panthers visit Veterans High School on Tuesday night and the Panthers visit Lee County on Thursday night.
