Volleyball Starts Season With Split

Jackson County's varsity volleyball team, coming off an Elite 8 appearance a season ago, split its first pair of matches of the season on Thursday night. Under the direction of new head coach Laura Keefer, the Panthers fell 25-22, 25-23 to former region foe North Forsyth before bouncing back with a sweep of Oconee County, 25-11, 25-23. 

Holly Ann Keefer finished with a team-best 20 assists between the two matches, while Siena Berthold finished with 11 kills. Ava Lesniak finished with six digs in the Oconee County match, while Hannah Stovall finished with five digs against North Forsyth. Chloe Wright finished with four aces and six digs in the opening match. 

Jackson County faces Bethlehem Christian and Dacula on Tuesday.
