Volleyball Secures No. 1 Seed for Region Tournament, State Playoff Berth

Jackson County's volleyball team secured the No. 1 seed for the Region 8-AAAAA tournament on Thursday night with a pair of wins over Alcovy and Clarke Central. The Panthers also clinched a Class AAAAA state playoff berth in the process.
Jackson County will host the region tournament beginning Monday. The Panthers will receive a first-round bye and will host either Apalachee or Winder-Barrow Monday evening at 7 p.m. The winner of that match will play against Tuesday night at 6 p.m., with the championship set for Wednesday night at 7 p.m. The championship will be a best 3 out of 5 format.
The state playoffs will begin on Oct. 14.
