Track & Field Sweeps Wins at East High

The Jackson County High School girls and boys track and field teams earned a clean sweep at the East Jackson Home Meet on Tuesday night. The Lady Panthers finished with 81 points while the boys finished with 63 points to win the meet. East Jackson's girls finished second with 21 points and the East Jackson boys finished in third with 36 points. 

Jacob Coombs finished in first place in the boys' 400-meter dash with a time of 53 seconds, while Tyler Mobbs finished in first in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:12.01. Brayden Bejin finished in first place in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.65 and second in the 300-meter hurdles. 

In the field events, Elijah Ling finished in first place in the boys' long jump with a distance of 19 feet, nine inches. In the triple jump, the Panthers racked up the top four spots with Zack Scott finishing in first place with a mark of 38 feet, one-and-a-half inches, a mark two-and-a-half feet higher than second place. 

Peyton Scott won the boys' shot put with a distance of 45 feet, one inch. 

In the girls' events, sophomore Sole Bailey finished in first place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.71, followed by fellow sophomore teammate Jalyn Robinson. Jackson County finished the event with nine of the top 10 placers. Bailey also claimed first place in the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles with times of 14.59 and 44.09, respectively. In the 200-meter dash, Jackson County runners finished in the top four, with Jalyn Robinson, a sophomore, claiming first place with a time of 27.56. 

In the 400-meter dash, Kamryn Shaw-Foreman finished in first place with a time of 1:03.51. In the 1600-meter run, Julia Crowthers, a sophomore, finished in first place with a time of 6:55.83. Honor Rabe and Jaidyn Holte finished in second and third, respectively. 

All three relay teams — the 4x100, 4x200 and 4X400 — claimed first place for Jackson County. The 4X100 team finished with a time of 51.41, while the 4x200 team finished with a mark of 1:50.91. The 4X400 team finished with a time of 5:09.89. 

 

In the field, Oumy Gaye finished first in the long jump with a distance of 15 feet, one inch. Alysha Deceus and Kennedy Stone finished in second and third.
