Track Breaks Multiple School Records

The Jackson County varsity track and field team set four new school records Saturday at the Big Orange Relays at Parkview High School. 

​The Jackson County girls team of Jalyn Robinson, Sole Bailey, Alaina Phillips and Erin O'Brien finished in first place overall and set a new school-mark with a time of 4:24.78 in the Girls Sprint Medley Relay Finals. The girls 4x1600-meter relay team of Talina Thompson, Kendell Goetzman, Julia Crowthers and Jordan Starling also set a new school-record with a time of 24:22.81.

The boys 1600-meter Sprint Medley Relay team composed of Malachi Thomas, Bryant Layson, Jacob Coombs and Zack Scott finished second overall, setting a new school-record with a time of 3:41.58. The boys relay team of Eli Avrett, Adam Thomas, Madux Wright and Jack Payne set a new school-mark in the 4x-1600-meter relay event with a time of 20:08.15.

The girls 4x800-meter relay team composed of Philips, Thompson, Starling and O'Brien, finished third overall with a time of 10:27.94. The 4X400 relay featuring O'Brien, Bailey, Philips and Robinson, also finished third overall with a time of 4:12.00.

In the field events, Robinson finished third overall in Long Jump with a distance of 15 feet, 10.75 inches.
