Track and Field Posts Top 5 Team Finishes

The Jackson County track and field teams posted top five finishes at the Apalachee All Comers meet in Winder on Saturday. The girls team finished third and the boys fifth out of the 15 teams in competition.

Erin O'Brien and Sole Bailey helped lead the Lady Panthers. O'Brien finished in first place in the girls' 3200-meter run, setting a new school-record, with a time of 11:35.51. O'Brien also finished first in the 1600-meter run posting a time of 5:21.76.

Bailey finished first in her marquee events, the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles. She also helped the girls' 4x400 team consisting of Cassidy Lugo, Alaina Phillips and Jalyn Robinson with a time of 4:02.12.

On the boys side, Donovon Spry finished in first place in the boys' triple jump, securing a distance of 41 feet, 6.25 inches.

Bailey also finished in second-place in the 100-meter sprint, while Lugo finished in second place in the 800-meter run. Elijah Avrett finished in second place in the High Jump for the Panthers. Finishing in the third for JCHS was Braden Bejin in both the 110 and 300-meter hurdles, while Jacob Coombs was third in the 400-meter run. 

Zack Scott finished third in the boys' 800-meter run, setting a new school-record with a time of 2:00.57.
