The Jackson County varsity tennis teams swept Apalachee in Region 8-AAAAA action Tuesday night. Both the girls and boys teams won 5-0.
In the girls matches, the Panthers dropped just two total sets in all five matches. No. 1 singles Skylar Xiong earned a 6-0, 6-1 win while No. 2 doubles of Madelynn Rundell and Madison Brand earned a 6-1, 6-0 win. No. 2 singles, Quylan Johnson, No. 3 singles, MaiXuan Johnson, and No. 1 doubles of Lila Threadgill and Sydney Peterson all earned 6-0, 6-0 victories.
On the boys side, No. 1 singles Collier Uesseler earned a 6-2, 6-2 win, while No. 2 and No. 3 singles, Jarrett Burch and Luke Hayes, each earned 6-0, 6-0 victories. No. 1 doubles Avery Gordon and Elijah Lai earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory, while No. 2 doubles Van Barritt and Will McMahon earned a 6-3, 7-5 victory.
Jackson County visits Cherokee Bluff in non-region action on March 17 before returning to region play against Alcovy on March 18.
