Swim Takes First in West Hall, Has Qualifiers For State

In the first swim meet of the season, the Jackson County High School swim team claimed first place in the West Hall Fall Frenzy at the Frances Meadows Aquatic Center. JCHS also had three relay teams and two individuals qualify for the Class AAAAA state meet.

Sky Chanthavong and Ryland Sheppard each qualified for state in the 100-yard breaststroke, while the 200-yard medley relay of Chanthavong, Zachary Davison, Conor Foley and Daniel Atkins qualified. Sheppard, Chanthavong, Foley and Gabe Gusek also qualified for state in the 200-yard freestyle relay, while Sheppard, Gusek, Davison and Atkins qualified in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

The girls 400-yard freestyle relay narrowly missed out on a state qualifying time, but managed to set a new school-record that had been in place since 2020. That team consisted of Gabby Lee, Jayci Morris, Kenley Herbertson and Aine Foley.

JCHS swim competes Saturday in Habersham County for the HCHS Rockin' Raiders Meet.
