Swim Qualifies For State During First Meet

Panther swim qualifies for state

Jackson County High School's swim and dive team had multiple state qualifiers following the team's first meet over the weekend at the Kickoff Classic 2025. The Panthers finished fourth in the meet with 569 combined points, but qualified for the Class AAAAA championships in nine events.

Gabby Lee, Loren Brown, Jayci Morris and Blakely Hawk qualified by breaking the school-record in the 200-Medley Relay with a time of 2:00.81. Hawk, a freshman, also broke a school-record and qualified for state in the 100-meter Breaststroke with a time of 1:13.09. Brown, another freshman, made state in the 200-Individual Medley with a time of 2:19.87 and is currently the record-holder in the 100-meter Backstroke with a time of 1:04.78.

Junior Zachary Davison qualified for state in the 50-meter Freestyle with a time of 23.31, while junior Ryland Sheppard qualified in the 100-meter Breast stroke with a time of 1:00.73 and the 50-meter Freestyle with a time of 22.95. Michael Barrette, Sheppard, Davison and Michael Barnes qualified for state in the 200-meter Medley Relay with a time of 1:48.23 and in the 200-meter Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:38.15.
