State Champion Donovon Spry Leads Jackson County to Third Place in State

The Jackson County Panthers wrestling team placed third as a team in Class AAAAAA thanks in large part to freshman state champion Donovon Spry during this past weekend’s Traditional State Wrestling Championships in Macon.

Spry (106 pounds) became the 16th male wrestler in school history to win a state championship.

Xavier Cepican (165 pounds) was also a large contributor to the team’s success, finishing as the runner-up in his weight class.

Malachi Kahele-Carranco (113 pounds) finished in third place, while Toby Jurovschi (132 pounds), Abby Andersen (170 pounds), and Josue Mendonza (190 pounds) all finished in fourth place. Dylan Jurovschi (126 pounds) placed fifth in his weight class.
