Softball's Clendenen Named Region 8 Pitcher of the Year
Jackson County pitcher Morgan Clendenen was named the Region 8-AAAAA Pitcher of the Year this weekend, while six other Panthers earned All-Region honors.
Ryleigh O'Brien and Emery Schiffmann were named First Team All-Region, while Lauren Glander, Miabella Lee, PJ Walker and Reese Wilson were named Second Team.
Clendenen finished the year with 73 1/3 innings pitched, posting a 6-5 record while allowing just 38 earned runs and striking out 40 batters. She finished the year with a 3.627 earned run average.
O'Brien finished with a team-high .464 batting average and a .549 on-base percentage. In her 69 at bats this season, she recorded 32 hits, six of which went for extra bases, while driving in 12 runs and scoring 16. She also boasted a .954 fielding percentage. Schiffmann finished the season with a .403 batting average and a .488 on-base percentage. She finished the year with 27 hits, 11 runs batted in and 14 runs scored. She also appeared in 15 games in the circle, throwing 69 2/3 innings. She allowed 48 earned runs and struck out 34 batters on the season.
Jackson County finished second in Region 8 and lost to Thomas County Central in the first round of the Class AAAAA state playoffs.
