The Jackson County softball team opened region play Tuesday night with a 9-6 win over Clarke Central.
The Lady Panthers broke open a 1-1 tie in the top of the fifth inning and a three-run sixth inning. Emma Mardos drove in three runs to lead Jackson County, while Emery Schiffman drove in a pair of runs and scored twice. Miabella Lee finished with three runs on the night, while Reese Wilson also scored two runs. Schiffman earned the win in the circle, throwing a complete-game, allowing five earned runs while striking out eight batters.
Jackson County hosts region-foe Loganville on Thursday (Aug. 22) before a non-region doubleheader against Oconee County and Bethlehem Christian Academy on Saturday (Aug. 24).
