Softball Improves To 2-0 In Region Play
Miabella Lee singled to score Brittany Woodall in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Jackson County softball team to a 9-8 walk-off win over Loganville on Thursday night. Jackson County is now 2-0 in region play with wins over Clarke Central and Loganville.
Jackson County raced out to a 6-0 lead Thursday night but Loganville scored two runs in the third, three in the fifth and three in the seventh to have the game tied at 8 in the bottom of the last inning. Lee finished the night 3-f0r-4 at the plate with two runs batted in. She also scored a run.
Ryleigh O'Brien went 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and run scored, while Woodall finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. In the circle, Emory Schiffman earned the win, allowing just one earned run in five innings of work. Morgan Cleneden pitched two innings of work, allowing four hits, no earned runs.
Jackson County will take part in the Warrior/Titan Classic at Oconee County High School on Saturday, where they face Oconee County and BASA. The Lady Panthers return to region play Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Apalachee and Thursday, Aug. 29, versus Winder-Barrow.
