Skoda Wins in Girls Wrestling, Six Boys Undefeated at Lanier
SMYRNA — Jackson County girls wrestler Anna Skoda was the individual champion in the 140-pound weight class at the Lady Spartans Round Robin Tournament on Saturday at Campbell High School in Smyrna.
Several other Jackson County wrestlers finished in the top five, including Charis Humby, who finished runner-up in her weight class. Annabelle Ally placed third, while Abbi Anderson and Danielle Hussey placed fourth and Vanessa Salinas and Tatianna Rubio each finished fifth in their respective weight classes.
"The ladies had a great day on the mats," head coach Jason Muehling said. "We had a couple new girls show they could hang with the big dogs, as well as some of our veterans start to separate themselves from the pack and win key matches. We are growing in leaps and bounds. This is going to be an exciting group to watch as the season continues to progress."
The Jackson County girls wrestling team competed again on Nov. 21. The next match will be Dec. 2.
