Panthers Punch Ticket to State Track and Field Championships
Ten student-athletes from Jackson County High School will compete in the Class AAAAAA State Track and Field Championships this weekend at Carrollton High School, after qualifying for the state event through the Sectional Meet this past weekend.
The 10 Panthers who qualified will compete in eight events. Sole Bailey finished in first place at the Sectional event in the girls' 100-meter hurdles and fourth in the 100-meter dash. Bailey was also a part of the girls' 400-meter relay team, which consisted of Cassidy Lugo, Talina Thompson and Kamryn Shaw-Foreman. Thompson, Erin O'Brien, Kendall Goetzman and Gabby Lee also qualified in the 800-meter relay following a fifth-place finish in sectionals. Lugo, Katelyn Czentnar, Jalyn Robinson and Shaw-Foreman also qualified in the 200-meter relay.
O'Brien also qualified in the 1600-meter and 3200-meter individual events. On the boys' side, Jacob Coombs finished seventh in the sectionals in the 400-meter run and will compete in state.
