Panther Wrestling Wins Region Traditional Championship
The Jackson County boys wrestling team claimed its second region championship of the season on Saturday, winning the Region 8-AAAAA traditional championship. The Panthers also won the dual region title earlier this season.
The Panthers saw six wrestlers win individual region championships, a new school-record, and will be sending 12 wrestlers to the state sectionals.
Dominic Thompson (120 pounds) finished in first place, along with Mikey Castro (126 pounds), Robert Spry (132), Toby Jurovschi (138), Josue Mendoza (190) and Alonso Ortiz (215).
Andrew Phillips (157), Daylan Maxwell (165) and Zack Scott (175) finished in second place, while Christopher Brown (106) and Braden Coleman (144) finished third, and Beau Hoffman (150) finished fourth.
