The Jackson County boys wrestling program claimed first place at the Granite City Duals in Elberton on Saturday. The Panthers were one of eight teams competing and went 4-0 in the event. Senior Xavier Cepican earned his 100th career victory. The Panthers are now 8-1 in dual events this season.
Jackson County defeated Midland Valley High School (S.C.) 69-12, Dixie High School (S.C.) 58-21, Athens Christian 69-12 and host Elbert County High School 52-19.
Eight Panthers, Austin Jurovschi (106 pounds), Donovan Spry (113 pounds), Malachi Kahele-Carranco (120 pounds), Robert Spry (126 pounds), Dyland Jurovschi (132 pounds), Daylan Maxwell (157 pounds), Xavier Cepican (165 pounds), and Zach Scott (175 pounds), went 4-0 on the day.
David Warr (150 pounds), Josue Mendoza (215 pounds) and Alonso Ortiz (285 pounds) finished the day with a 3-1 record.
