The Jackson County Swim teams competed in the Class AAAAA Swim Championships this past weekend. The boys team finished sixth and the girls finished 17th. Both teams were boosted by impressive individual performances.
Blakely Hawk finished 6th in the 100-meter breaststroke, while Loren Brown finished 7th in the 200-meter individual medley and 12th in the 500-meter freestyle. Ryland Sheppard finished fourth in the 100-meter breaststroke and 12th in the 200-meter freestyle; Daniel Atkins finished 10th in the 100-meter freestyle and 6th in the 50-meter freestyle; and Zachary Davison finished 8th in the 100-meter freestyle and 10th in the 50-meter freestyle.
On the relay team side, the four-some of Atkins, Sheppard, Davison and Michael Barrette finished fourth in the 200-meter medley and seventh in the 200-meter relay freestyle. On the girls side, the relay team of Gabby Lee, Hawk, Taylor Simmons and Jayci Morris finished 19th in the 200-meter freestyle relay, and the team of Lee, Brown, Simmons and Morris finished 16th in the 400-meter freestyle.
