No. 10 Softball Hammers Winder-Barrow, 11-1

softball hammers Winder-Barrow, 11-1

The 10th ranked Jackson County softball team hammered Winder-Barrow 11-1 on Thursday night in Winder, improving to 8-2 overall and 3-1 in Region 8-AAAAA.

Jackson County accounted for nine hits, took advantage of three Bulldogg errors, and forced four walks in the win, which saw the Panthers race out to a 4-0 first inning lead and a 10-0 lead after the second inning. The game was called due to the run-rule following the fifth inning.

Seven Panthers recorded a hit on the night, including Addison Ryder and Sofia McCafferty, who each connected twice. Ryder, Ryleigh O'Brien and Emery Schiffmann each scored two runs, while P.J. Walker drove in a pair of runs in the win. Adalyn Mitchell earned the win in the circle, allowing one unearned run on just four hits while striking out six batters in all five innings of work.

Jackson County visits South Forsyth Monday in non-region action, before hosting Alcovy in region play on Tuesday, and visiting region opponent Habersham Central on Thursday.
