The Jackson County softball team earned its first shutout of the season Saturday, blanking Oconee County 8-0.
Emery Schiffman earned the win in the circle, allowing just four hits and no runs over five innings, while striking out three and walking none. Ryleigh O'Brien, Miabella Lee, Emma Mardos and Reese Wilson each finished with two hits on the day for Jackson County, while Emma Abernethy, Schiffman, Lee, Brittani Woodall and Mardos each drove in a run.
Jackson County visits Apalachee Tuesday (Aug. 27) and hosts Winder-Barrow (Aug. 29) in region play.
