Lackey Announced As New Head Baseball Coach

Lackey Announced As New Head Baseball Coach

Jackson County High School has announced Zeb Lackey as its new varsity baseball coach. Lackey most recently served as the assistant coach for the Panther baseball program.

"We are thrilled to announce Zeb Lackey as our new baseball coach," athletic director Brad Hayes said. "Zeb brings the knowledge, passion and respect of our community to the position. We are excited for him and look forward to working alongside him as he leads our baseball program."

Lackey lives in Jackson County and is known for being a community-minded coach who is committed to developing players both on and off the field. Lackey said he is committed to building a program the Jackson County community can be proud of for years to come.

"Like with everything in education, it starts with relationships," Lackey said. "We have phenomenal kids here. They asked me why I want to be the coach here during the interview, and I've lived here since 2015 and this is the first time I've coached in a community where I live. We have amazing kids and I want to be a part of that.

"As far as developing young men, I am who I am because of the coaches who poured into me. That is my why. I want these guys to realize their potential and understand there are a lot of parallels with baseball and the game of life...The kids here are really hungry to do well. They want to get better every day. These guys want to learn, they want to work. They want to make their community proud."

Lackey has previous head coaching stints at Riverside Military Academy and East Hall. He played collegiately at Emmanuel College. Lackey currently serves as a special education teacher at Jackson County High School.
