JCHS To Compete in Region 8-AAAAA Following Reclassification Process

JCHS To Compete in Region 8-AAAAA Following Reclassification Process

Jackson County High School will compete in Region 8-AAAAA for the upcoming 2024-26 Georgia High School Association athletic cycle.

The regions were announced following lateral region transfers on Thursday, Nov. 16.

Jackson County will move into Class AAAAA following the state's decision to reduce the current highest classification from AAAAAAA to AAAAAA. With the removal of a classification, all GHSA member schools were reclassified based on school enrollment numbers. Following the reclassification, schools were placed into one of eight regions, based on geographical location to other schools inside the same classification.

Jackson County will compete in Region 8-AAAAA with Alcovy, Apalachee, Clarke Central, Eastside, Habersham Central, Loganville and Winder-Barrow. The new regions will take effect in August of 2024.
