Tennis Sweeps Apalachee
Both Jackson County's girls and boys tennis teams beat Apalachee Wednesday night, 5-0. The boys began the day with a 2-0 lead as Apalachee forfeited lines three singles and two doubles. Jarrett Burch ensured the Jackson County win with a 6-0, 6-0 victory, notching his second golden set of the season, meaning he didn't surrender a single point through the whole set for the second time. Then, Clayton Fairbank put JCHS up 4-0 with his own 6-0, 6-0 handling of his opponent. Finally, Collier Uesseler and Avery Gordon completed the sweep 6-2, 6-0 at one doubles.
For the girls, Skylar Xiong began the day with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at one singles. Then, QuyLan Johnson won 6-1, 6-0 at two singles. The No. 1 doubles team of Brooklyn Clerici and Lily Potter kept up that same scoring trend with their own 6-1, 6-0 win to put Jackson County ahead 3-0 and secure the win. MaiXuan Johnson set JCHS up for the sweep when she won 6-0, 6-0 at line three singles. Armani Ly and Marin Williams completed the 5-0 sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 win at two doubles.
