JCHS Girls Track Wins, Boys Second at Lake Lanier Classic
The Jackson County girls track and field team claimed first place in the Lake Lanier Classic Thursday night, while the boys finished in second place, with two school records broken in the process.
Oumy Gaye broke the school-record in girls' long jump with a distance of 17 feet, 4 inches to claim first place in the event by nearly two feet. The girls' 4x100 relay team also broke a new school record with a time of 50.65, a substantial two seconds better than second place Central Gwinnett. The JCHS girls 4x200 and 4X800 relay teams also finished in first.
Kamryn Shaw-Foreman finished in first place in the 400-meter dash and Cassidy Lugo finished in third. Sole Bailey and Ava Borah finished in second and third in the 100-meter dash, while Jalyn Robinson and Katelyn Czentnar finished second and third in the 200-meter.
Talina Thompson and Erin O'Brien finished first and second in the 800-meter finals, with O'Brien taking first place in both the 1600-meter and 3200-meter events. Kendall Goetzman finished second in the 3200. Bailey finished in first place in both the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles.
Audrianna Lindquist finished in first place in the girls' Discus.
In the boys' events, Brayden Bejin finished in second place in the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles, while the 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams finished in second place. Donovan Spry finished in second place in the boys' triple jump, while Peyton Scott finished in first place in the boys' shot put with a distance of 43 feet, 7 inches.
