JCHS Girls Tennis Opens Season With Win Over Loganville
The Jackson County girls tennis team opened the season with a 3-2 win over Loganville, in what were tightly contested matches to open the season. The two teams competed in non-region play this year but will share Region 8-AAAAA beginning next school year in August.
The Lady Panthers earned wins in all three singles matches to earn the victory. Sophomore Skylar Xiong looked flawless with a 6-0, 6-2 victory, to earn the first points for the Lady Panthers. Quylan Johnson earned the second point for Jackson County with a 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-6 super tiebreaker) victory. The final singles match was MaiXuan Johnson, a junior, battling for a 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-7 super tiebreaker) win.
In the boys' matches, Jackson County fell 4-1 to Loganville. A pair of matches were very close. Clayton Fairbank, a senior, earned the lone victory for the Panthers, dismantling the top-ranked Loganville player by a score of 6-1, 6-1.
Jackson County will compete against Bethlehem Christian Academy on Feb. 6.
