Girls Track and Field Wins Home Meet

The Jackson County girls track and field team claimed 115.50 points to win a home meet against Chestatee, Winder-Barrow and East Jackson last week. The boys finished second with 77 points, just four points behind Winder-Barrow. 

Oumy Gaye finished first in the girls' long jump with a mark of 16 feet, 7 inches. Brooklyn Bruce finished in first place in the girls' shot put with a distance of 31 feet, 2 inches. 

On the track, Erin O'Brien finished in first place with a personal-record of 12:15.50 in the girls' 3200-meter run, while Talina Thompson set a personal-record with a time of 5:42.96 in the 1600-meter. Jordan Starling finished second. The JCHS team of Azalea Johnson, Kennedy Stone, Katelyn Czentnar and Sole Bailey finished in first place in the girls' 4x100-meter relay. 

Kamryn Shaw-Foreman finished in first place in the girls' 400-meter dash, while Bailey won the girls' 100-meter, 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles. The team of Cassidy Lugo, Czentnar, Johnson and Kamryn Shaw-Foreman won the girls 4X200-meter relay, while Talina Thomspon won the girls' 800-meter run with a personal-record of 2:32.10. In the girls' 4X400, Lugo, Alaina Phillips, Czentnar and Shaw-Foreman finished with a time of 4:42.50 to finish in first place.
