Girls Tennis Wins Back-to-Back Region 8 Championship

​The Jackson County girls varsity tennis team won its second consecutive Region 8 championship Thursday afternoon. The Lady Panthers will now serve as the region's No. 1 seed in the Class AAAAA state tournament, slated to begin following the spring break holiday. 

Jackson County opened the Region 8 tournament with a forfeit win over Alcovy and followed it up with a 3-0 win over Winder-Barrow. In the finals, the Lady Panthers defeated Loganville 3-1. In the match against LHS, No. 1 singles Skylar Xiong rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 victory while No. 2 singles QuyLan Johnson won in three sets, 6-0, 1-6, 6-2. The No. 1 doubles pair of Lila Threadgill and Mollie Lynn won 7-5, 7-5.
