Girls Golf Topples Jefferson
The Jackson County girls golf team bested Jefferson by four shots Tuesday afternoon at Traditions Golf and Country Club. Junior Anna Holley, who won the National Junior Golf Association's Junior Showcase in Athens last Summer and finished ninth in the Class AAAAAA state championship last May, tied for first place Tuesday with a nine-hole score of 44.
Freshman Chloe Kubiak finished third after firing a 47. Sophomore Joria Taylor finished sixth with a 56 and freshman Bailey King finished eighth with a 61.
On the boys' side, junior Max Pepper finished tied for second with a nine-hole score of 42, just one shot off the lead. Junior Jake Simmons and freshman Samuel Maxey finished tied for fourth with a 44.
