Girls, Boys Tennis Sweeps Shiloh
The Jackson County girls and boys tennis teams each defeated Shiloh 5-0 on Thursday. The Lady Panthers improved their record to 6-1 (2-0 in Region 8-AAAAAA) with their win.
Skylar Xiong won the first match of the day at one singles, 6-0, 6-0. QuyLan Johnson put the Lady Panthers up 2-0 with her 6-0, 6-1 win at two singles. Jackson County was awarded the team win after the line one doubles tandem of Brooklyn Clerici and Lily Potter blasted through their opponents 6-2, 6-0. At two doubles, Armani Ly and Marin Williams coasted to a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
To end the phenomenal night for Jackson County, MaiXuan Johnson completed the sweep 6-0, 6-0 at line three singles. On the boys' side, the Panthers won line two doubles via forfeit before the match began to give Jackson County a 1-0 lead. Following the forfeit, Harrison Chan fought for a 6-3, 6-1 win in three singles. Clayton Fairbank easily won 6-1, 6-0 at one singles, guaranteeing a win for the Panthers.
At two singles, Jarrett Burch played a long match and won 6-2, 6-2. At one doubles, Luke Hayes and Silas Gillespie battled their way to a 6-4, 6-0 victory. Both JCHS tennis teams face Apalachee on March 5th.
