HOSCHTON — The Jackson County girls basketball team earned its first win of the season Friday night, defeating future region opponent Winder-Barrow 42-34.
Jackson County and Winder-Barrow will compete inside Region 8-AAAAA together starting next school year.
The Lady Panthers were led in scoring by Chandler Blake with 11 points, while Maddie Harkins finished with nine. Brooklyn Bruce contributed nine rebounds. Anna Maxey had a solid night with eight rebounds, six assists, and five steals.
The Lady Panthers are off for the Thanksgiving break and return to action at Athens Academy on Friday, Dec. 1.
