Football Outlasts Dacula, 35-28, Improves To 2-1
Sophomore Daylan Maxwell rushed for 208 yards and scored three touchdowns, including a 42-yard run, to carry the Jackson County football team to a 35-28 victory over non-region foe Dacula on Friday night.
The Panthers are idle this Friday and visit Madison County on Sept. 13.
The game against Dacula was back-and-forth, with the teams swapping scores throughout. Dacula took a 7-0 lead until Maxwell tied the game with his 42-yard scoring run.
After Dacula took a 14-7 lead, Maxwell scored on a 7-yard run to even the game. Caden Daniels hauled in a 20-yard touchdown pass from RJ Knapp to even the score at 21-21 with 1:18 remaining in the first half.
Jackson County took its first lead of the night with a 4-yard scoring run by Maxwell. The Panthers added a two-run touchdown run in the fourth quarter by Jayson Lee to take a 35-21 lead. Dacula scored late in the fourth quarter, but Jackson County recovered the onside kick and was able to run the clock out to secure the win.
