Football Continues Best Start Since '92, Stifles Winder-Barrow

The Jackson County football team stifled Winder-Barrow, a team entering Friday's contest averaging over 30 points per game, continuing the Panthers' best start to a season since 1992, and securing the school's first winning season in 12 years. The Panthers dominated both sides of the ball Friday night, their final home regular season contest of the season, earning a 27-10 win.

The Panthers (6-2, 3-1 Region 8-AAAAA) will now visit Loganville and Habersham Central to close out the regular season. A pair of wins for the Panthers will earn Jackson County the No. 2 seed from the region and a home playoff game in the Class AAAAA state playoffs.

The Panther defense, which has allowed just 128 points this season, forced four turnovers Friday night, with both Silas McDaniel and Tyler Mobbs hauling in interceptions. Offensively, RJ Knapp was 10-of-18 for 162 yards with one touchdown. Daylan Maxwell rushed for 163 yards on 28 carries, while Jayson Lee finished with 29 yards on four carries and a touchdown.
