Football Claims No. 2 Seed, To Host Playoff Game Nov. 15
For the first time in program history, the Jackson County football team will be hosting a state playoff football game. The Panthers secured the No. 2 seed from Region 8-AAAAA Friday night with a 34-21 win over Habersham Central, locking up the program's first-ever home playoff game.
That will come Nov. 15 when the Panthers host the reigning Class AAAAA state champion Coffee Trojans. Both teams are idle this week, after the GHSA pushed the start of the playoffs back a week to allow schools affected by Hurricane Helene to finish their regular seasons.
The Panthers finished the regular season with an 8-2 record, tying a 1992 school-record for wins in a season.
