Football Blows Past Flowery Branch

In a game that started 14.5 hours late due to severe storms in the Jackson County area Friday night, Jackson County's football team blew past Flowery Branch 36-13 Saturday morning inside Panther Stadium. 

Jayson Lee, Daylan Maxwell and Kaleb Clark all found the end zone with rushing touchdowns, while senior quarterback RJ Knapp threw touchdown passes to Landon Jones and Silas McDaniel in the win. The Panthers (1-0) visit cross-town rival Jefferson Friday night.

The Panthers raced out to an 8-0 lead within the first 1:10 of the season, when Lee scored on a 35-yard run. The Panthers converted a two-point play. Maxwell scored on a 1-yard run in the closing minutes of the second quarter, before Flowery Branch scored in the final seconds of the half to make it 15-6 at intermission.

In the second half, Knapp found Jones on a 35-yard touchdown in the third quarter to make the score 22-6 before Clark's 1-yard score early in the fourth quarter. After Flowery Branch scored just over a minute later, Knapp found McDaniel to close out the scoring for the Panthers.

Maxwell finished the day with 147 yards rushing on 18 carries, while Lee and Clark each finished with 27 yards rushing on five carries. Knapp finished 9 of 15 for 156 yards with his two touchdowns.
