The Jackson County High School girls flag football team secured a GHSA state playoff berth on Wednesday night, following a 21-6 win over Rockdale and a 7-0 victory over Winder-Barrow. The berth comes in the program's first year of existence.
"These young ladies continue to amaze us! They have learned a new sport in just a few short months and in their first year of the program's existence qualified for the State Playoffs," head coach Julie McCutcheon said. "Such a special group of young ladies who have made their school, community, parents and coaches so proud. They have laid the foundation for the future of this program and it looks very promising."
First and second round state playoff games will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 5, with quarterfinal and semifinal games being held Dec. 7. The state championship games will be held at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Dec. 11 through 13.
