Cheerleading Wins At Loganville, Heads To Sectionals

Cheerleading Wins At Loganville, Heads To Sectionals

The Jackson County varsity competition cheerleading team claimed first place in a meet Saturday at Loganville High School. The Panthers won by nearly 20 points over second-place Lakeside of Evans High. The Panthers now prepare to head to Sectionals this Saturday, Nov. 4, which will take place at Houston County High School.

Jackson County's stunt performance was the highest of the year, receiving 41 of 47 points, in the meet at Loganville.

"Our girls have shown true determination this season," Coach Wayne Brooks said. "It shows in their performances. It was the first time in five years that we have scored over forty points for stunts. It was exciting to see how well they stunted and it certainly gives us momentum going into sectionals this weekend."

Jackson County has scored over 80 total points twice this year, a new five-year high score. Jackson Countt defeated Etowah on Oct. 21, along with top-ten state-ranked Johns Creek, in back-to-back competitions held at Buford and South Forsyth.

At Sectionals, the top 16 scoring teams advance to the State Championship meet. In Class 6A, fourteen of the twenty-eight teams have scored over 90 points in a competition this season.
