Boys Track Finishes Second At Parkview

Jackson County's boys track and field team finished second out of 13 teams at the Need for Speed Run at Parkview High School on Friday. The girls team finished seventh. Between the two teams, seven Jackson County school records were broken. 

Gavin Howland (3:25.31) and Eli Avrett (4:19.65) each set school records in the 1200-meter and 1500-meter events, respectively, and both finished in first place. Adam Thomas also finished in first place in the boys' 800-meter run with a time of 2:06.10. 

Noah Norwood set a new school mark in the 60-meter race with a time of 7.24 seconds, while the 800-meter sprint medley relay team also set a new mark with a time of  1:38.05. 

Donovan Spry finished second in Triple Jump with a distance of 42 feet, 2 1/2 inches, while Caleb Louis finished third in the discus (128 feet, 8 inches) and Bryce Leitsch third in the 1500-meter race (4:24.68).

On the girls side, Sole Bailey finished first and set a new school mark in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.49 seconds, nearly two seconds ahead of second place. Bailey, the Tennessee commitment, finished second in the 200-meter run, setting a new school record with a time of 25.30. She narrowly lost that event by just 0.10 seconds. Nikki Ann Gregory finished second in the girls Shot Put, with a distance of 30 feet, 8 inches.
