Boys' Swim Finishes 16th In State
The Jackson County swim teams had a historic day at the Class AAAAAA State Swim Meet at Georgia Tech over the weekend, with the boys team finishing 16th overall in the state out of 32 teams.
The boys' 200-Medley, composed of Zach Davison, Sky Chanthavong, Sam Bilyashevych and Ryland Shepherd, broke the team record to finish 13th in state, while the 200-meter Freestyle team composed of Shepherd, Davison, Gabe Gusek and Conor Foley finished in 20th. Bilyshevych finished ninth in the state in the 100-meter Butterfly and 100 Backstroke. Chanthavong, competing in the 100 Breaststroke, beat the school-record and placed 15th in state, while Sheppard finished 17th in the state in the 100 Breaststroke.
The boys' 400-meter Medley, composed of Shepherd, Davison, Gusek and Bilyavhsch, finished 15th in the state.
