The Jackson County varsity tennis teams are heading to the Class AAAAA state playoffs following Tuesday's opening round of the Region 8 tournament. The Jackson County boys swept Apalachee 5-0 while the girls received the first-round win with a forfeit from Alcovy.
The Panthers dropped just four games among the five matches Tuesday against the Wildcats. No. 1 singles Colin Uesseler won 6-2, 6-1, while No. 2 and 3 singles Jarrett Burch and Luke Hayes each won 6-0, 6-0. No. 1 doubles tandem of Harrison Chan and Owen O'Neal won 6-1, 6-0, and No. 2 singles pair of Avery Gordon and Jaydan Little won 6-0, 6-0.
