Boys Basketball Topples Apalachee in OT
The Jackson County boys basketball team raced back from a late fourth quarter deficit and force overtime to topple the Apalachee Wildcats 70-59 on Tuesday night at Panther Pavilion.
The Panthers were down four, 57-53, with 15 seconds to play when EJ Heath converted back-to-back free throw attempts. The Panthers deflected the ensuing in-bounds pass to force a turnover and call a timeout with 10 seconds remaining. Following an additional timeout with five seconds remaining, the Panthers inbounded to Knapp who went left to lay in a score as the buzzer expired.
In the overtime session, the Panthers outscored the Wildcats 13-2 to improve their overall record to 9-11 (3-4 in Region 8-AAAAAA). Brice Rogers and Knapp led the team with 23 points each, with all of Knapp's coming in the second half and overtime. Knapp finished with 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals, while Rogers finished with six rebounds and three steals, three assists. Heath finished with nine points, six rebounds and two steals.
The Panthers host North Forsyth on Friday night.
