Big Second Half Carries Boys Soccer Past Madison County, 5-2
Jackson County's boys varsity soccer team scored five second-half goals to erase a one goal deficit at halftime to beat Madison County 5-2 in non-region action Tuesday night. Jackson County is now 5-3 overall on the season.
Jackson County hit the equalizer in Tuesday night's game in the third minute of the second half before Madison County regained the lead a few minutes later. But from there, it was all Panthers. Jackson County scored four unanswered goals to earn the victory.
Justin Hanfman scored the first goal to make it a 1-1 tie, assisted by Ali Mizdrak, before Aiden Burke scored the next equalizer to knot the score at 2-2. Chase O'Neal hit the game-winner, with Carson Odom, assisted by Andrew Ipina, and Gio Ospina scoring insurance goals to pad the Panthers' lead late in the match. Gage Simmons had five saves in the goal on the night.
The Panthers travel to the Jekyll Island Tournament of Champions this week to face Class AAAAAA powerhouses Hill Grove and Creekview in non-region competition.
