Baseball Sweeps Cedar Shoals, 17-0, 15-0

​Jackson County scored 32 combine runs in a doubleheader sweep over Cedar Shoals Saturday inside Panther Park. The Panthers won Game 1, 17-0, and Game 2, 15-0. The Panthers are now 6-3 on the season and face much more stout competition this week when they visit Jefferson Tuesday, host North Oconee Thursday and visit Parkview on Friday.

​GAME 1: Jackson County scored 17 runs in the first inning, which helped them defeat Cedar Shoals 17-0 on Saturday.  Preston Wilson doubled, scoring two runs, Mitchell Bryce singled, scoring one run, Landon VanWormer tripled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Wes Ashcraft singled, scoring one run, Brody Strickland homered to left field, scoring three runs, Bryce Garrison hit a solo home run to right field, VanWormer hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, an error scored one run, an error scored two runs, Strickland drew a walk, scoring one run, Garrison drew a walk, scoring one run, and Coleman Evans drew a walk, scoring one run.


Jack Teague led things off on the mound for Jackson County​. The right-handed pitcher gave up zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out five and walking none. Kole Hill pitched one inning of no-run ball for Jackson County​. The southpaw surrendered one hit, striking out three and walking one.

Strickland led Jackson County with two runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The infielder went 1-for-1 on the day. 

GAME 2: Jackson County got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after  Bryce grounded out, and Evans was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run.


Jackson County scored six runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning. Ollie Tingelhoff singled, scoring one run, Maddox Rice singled, scoring one run, Cooper Galley doubled, scoring two runs, Bryce singled, scoring one run, and an error scored one run.

A double by Charlie Crowe, a single by Tripp Brown, and a wild pitch helped Jackson County extend ​its early lead in the third.

Brody Strickland earned the win for Jackson County Varsity Panthers. The right-handed pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out nine and walking one.

Jackson County ​accumulated 12 hits in the game. Bryce provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Jackson County Varsity Panthers with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Galley, Bryce, Rice, Garrett Klein, and Crowe each collected two hits for Jackson County.
