A pair of Jackson County student-athletes were named Athletes of the Year over the weekend during the Next Up Sports Awards banquet.
Sole Bailey was named Athlete of the Year for track and field, while Alyssa Pace was named Athlete of the Year for swim and dive.
Bailey, a junior, is one of the top hurdlers in the nation, with her 100-meter time ranking inside the top 25 in the nation. Pace, a freshman, became the first student-athlete in JCHS history to qualify for the diving championships, becoming a state champion in the event for Class AAAAA.
