Avrett, O'Brien Set New School Marks
Eli Avrett and Erin O'Brien set new 5k school records for Jackson County High School on Saturday at the North Georgia XC Invitational in Oakwood. Avrett finished with a time of 16:13, while O'Brien set the mark with a time of 18:39.
The finish for Avrett was good enough for 10th overall in the race, fourth-best in Class AAAAA, while O'Brien finished second overall in the girls' race. The JCHS girls finished fifth out of 18 teams, while the boys finished seventh out of 22 teams at the event.
For the girls, Jordan Starling finished with a time of 20:30.50 and Kendall Goetzman at 20:33.80. Ingrid Casillas finished with a time of 22:08.60 and Julia Crowthers at 23:33.40.
For the boys, Gavin Howland finished with a time of 17:06.20, while Adam Thomas finished at 17:29.20. Gabe Spivey (18:15.20) and Brody Wooten (18:17.70) rounded out the top five for the Panthers.
